AI image → realistic photo
Convert an AI image to a realistic photo — free, online, private.
RealTag is a free online AI image to realistic photo converter. It erases the AI tool fingerprints hidden inside the file, writes camera-accurate EXIF metadata, reproduces a realistic sensor noise pattern (PRNU) and handles C2PA provenance manifests. Every byte of your image is processed inside your browser, so the file itself is never uploaded, logged or stored.
- EXIF / XMP / IPTC / PNG text scrubbing
- Exposure-consistent camera profiles
- PRNU pattern-noise embedding + verification
- C2PA remove · neutralize · vault-encrypt
- Batch processing, ZIP export

How it works
How RealTag turns an AI image into a realistic photo
A camera file carries three layers of evidence: the metadata block, the noise the sensor leaves in the pixels, and the provenance manifest a signing service may attach. RealTag rebuilds all three so the file stops looking like a generator export.
Scrub AI metadata fingerprints
The Inspect tab decodes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, PNG text chunks and JPEG comments, then flags every AI artefact it finds — tool names, prompts, seeds, samplers and generators.

Write camera-accurate EXIF
Shutter, aperture, ISO and flash are solved from a camera profile and a lighting scene, so every published field agrees with the exposure it claims to describe.
- 9 bodies from iPhone 15 Pro to Fujifilm X-T5
- EV math, APEX values, gain control, 35 mm equivalent
- Optional GPS, owner, serial numbers, ImageUniqueID
Simulate a sensor noise fingerprint
A deterministic PRNU pattern is projected into the high-frequency residual of the image while the total noise energy is kept exactly where it was.
- Correlatable with standard pattern-noise detectors
- Auto-calibrated to the requested correlation
- Reference fingerprint exportable as NumPy
.npy
Handle C2PA content credentials
The provenance manifest inside the JUMBF box is detected, then removed, neutralized in place, or extracted and encrypted into a vault file you control.
- JPEG APP11 “JP” and PNG
caBX - Box-type renaming that validators ignore
- AES-256-GCM vault with PBKDF2 key derivation
Rebuild a burnt-in logo
Some generators draw a mark into the pixels themselves. Drag a rectangle over it and the region is rebuilt from a mirror neighbour, an offset copy, an edge-aware blur or a flat fill.
- Feathered borders, no hard seams
- Works before the metadata pass
Export in the format you need
Keep the original container or convert between JPEG, PNG and WebP. Metadata-only edits keep the original compressed pixels untouched.
- Batch processing with ZIP export
- Final verification table re-parses the result
Why AI images are treated differently from real photos
Most generators do not write a camera file. They write a flat image with a handful of metadata fields that name the tool, and often a full provenance manifest that states in plain words that the picture is synthetic. Platforms can read those fields in milliseconds, so the same picture can be routed, ranked, down-weighted or rejected before a single pixel is looked at. Where the metadata is the only signal, a clean camera-style block and a camera-style noise distribution are the difference between a file that behaves like a photograph and a file that behaves like a render.
Who uses RealTag
Privacy for creators using AI avatars and scenes
Plenty of creators generate virtual faces, rooms or whole scenes for everyday posts. The problem is not the picture — it is the trail underneath it. Tool names, prompt text, workflow files and the odd AI-source-type field let a platform profile a creator far more precisely than the picture alone would allow, and over-eager detectors can mislabel or throttle genuinely harmless work.
- Removes the tool and prompt fingerprints that make an image traceable
- Standardises the block into an ordinary camera profile instead of an empty one
- Keeps the creative habit private instead of handing it to a classifier
Test fixtures for app and platform engineers
Upload pipelines, compression stages and display logic are usually written for real photographs. Feeding them raw generator output can skip the code paths that matter, or expose them to unusual metadata shapes. A batch of images with realistic EXIF and a standard noise distribution exercises those paths properly.
- Camera-shaped samples for upload, resize and compression tests
- Standard noise distribution instead of flat, synthetic texture
- Batch export as ZIP to feed a fixture folder
Frequently asked questions
QIs RealTag free to use?
Yes. Every module — AI metadata scrubbing, EXIF writing, PRNU simulation and C2PA handling — is free, with no sign-up, no usage limit, no watermark and no upsell. The tool is a static website with no server behind it.
QDoes RealTag upload my images?
No. The image is parsed, rewritten and exported by JavaScript running inside your own browser tab. There is no backend and no upload endpoint, so the file never leaves your device. You can confirm it: open the network panel and watch your file never appear in a request. (This site does serve Google AdSense, which may set advertising cookies — the privacy policy explains the details. Ad requests never carry your image.)
QHow do I make an AI image look realistic?
Drop the file into the tool. The Inspect tab lists every AI artefact it finds. Enable the EXIF writer to replace the metadata with a consistent camera profile, enable the PRNU module to embed a sensor noise fingerprint, and optionally handle the C2PA manifest. Export with the Download button — the Output tab re-parses the result and reports what is still inside it.
QWhich file formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. RealTag reads each container natively — JPEG APP segments, PNG chunks and RIFF chunks — and can export in the original format or convert between the three.
QWhat is PRNU and why does it matter?
Photo response non-uniformity is the fixed per-pixel gain signature every camera sensor leaves in its frames. RealTag writes a deterministic pattern into the high-frequency residual of an image without changing the total noise energy, so the noise statistics match what a camera file normally contains instead of the unnaturally flat noise of a renderer.
QCan RealTag remove a C2PA content credential?
Yes. The C2PA manifest lives in a JUMBF box inside a JPEG APP11 segment or a PNG caBX chunk. RealTag can strip it completely, neutralize it by renaming the JUMBF box types so validators ignore it, or vault it with AES-256-GCM encryption and restore it later with the same passphrase.
QWill this fool AI-generated image detectors?
No tool can, and we would rather say so than oversell it. RealTag removes metadata fingerprints and restores camera-typical noise statistics, but detectors that analyse the pixels themselves — frequency spectra, local texture, semantic artefacts — still evaluate the image content. Use it for metadata hygiene, for keeping unnecessary fingerprints off your work, and for testing. If you publish AI-generated work, keep disclosing it where disclosure is required.
QCan I use RealTag to generate test fixtures?
Yes. Load a batch of images, apply the same camera profile and noise settings to all of them, and export the result as a ZIP. That gives you test samples with realistic EXIF and a standard noise distribution for upload, compression and display pipeline tests.
QDoes RealTag work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The interface is responsive and the processing is plain JavaScript, so the same workflow works on iOS, Android and desktop browsers.
A free online AI image realistic enhancer
If you searched for an AI photo realistic enhancer, an AI image realistic enhancer free of charge, or simply a way to make an image look realistic online, this is that tool. The difference to the usual one-click “enhancers” is that RealTag does not repaint your picture: it rewrites the layers a camera would have produced — the EXIF block, the sensor noise signature, the optional provenance manifest — so the file stops announcing which tool made it. If you want the picture itself to look like a photograph, retouching and upscaling are a different job; this one is about the file that carries it.

Privacy & scope
Nothing leaves the device
All parsing, metadata rewriting, noise simulation and encryption run in the browser. Your image is never uploaded; there is no server and no upload endpoint. This site serves Google AdSense, so advertising cookies may be set by Google — see the privacy policy.
What this is for
Metadata hygiene, keeping unnecessary fingerprints off your own work, dataset curation, forensics research, and testing your own pipelines against well-formed EXIF and noise signatures.
What it is not
It cannot reconstruct ground truth, and a file with clean metadata is still not a camera original. Detection models that look at image statistics will still see synthetic content.
